I watch a clip from The Polar Express. As the train in the movie starts
to fly out of control, so do I. As it whirs to a stop and bumps over
the rickety tracks, so do I.

D-Box chairs show movement is the new graphics
The chair doesn't even move that much, but the movement that is there
is remarkably precise. You can feel every bump on the train and, when
the locomotive slides across the ice, the chair gives you a scary floating
feeling. I'm not sure how a chair hooked up to a few axis of movement
lets you feel like you're floating, but I guess that's why they call
their technicians artists.

Technologie - Des films qui bougent!
La technologie développée par l'entreprise québécoise D-Box a
fait tourner bien des têtes à Las Vegas
Au fil des années, le Québec a acquis une solide réputation dans
le domaine de l'animation et des effets spéciaux, tant au cinéma
qu'à la télévision. Pensons aux Softimage, Miranda, Discreet,
Kaydara ou Toon Boom Technologies qui sont devenues des incontournables
dans l'industrie cinématographique. À ces noms, il faudra bientôt
ajouter D-Box. L'entreprise ayant, pour une deuxième année consécutive,
fait tourner des milliers de têtes au Consumer Electronics Show
de Las Vegas, mais, surtout, parce qu'elle commence à aligner
sur sa liste de partenaires d'affaires les plus grands studios
de cinéma.

Pour une deuxième année de suite, l’entreprise longueuilloise
D-Box frappe le gros lot à Las Vegas.
Cette fois, ce sont d’importantes ententes signées avec Disney,
20th Century Fox, l’Association Blu-ray et Johnson Controls,
qui lui permettent d’attaquer la prochaine année avec confiance.

Consumer Electronic Show de Las Vegas: immersion totale
Les recherches de D-Box ont permis d’établir un code de mouvement
qui envoie l’information à un robot de forme cylindrique en
parfaite synchronisation avec les mouvements à l’écran. Installé
sous un siège, l’appareil reproduit tangage, roulis, soulèvement
et vibrations. La première mouture, présentée l’an dernier
au CES, vient de décrocher le prestigieux prix d’innovation
du salon.

CES : D-Box, de la belle technologie Québécoise.
Quand j’ai pris l’avion dimanche soir pour me rendre à Las Vegas,
il y avait très peu de joueurs potentiels qui attendaient avec
moi, mais plutôt beaucoup de gens qui parlaient de technologie.
Il était impossible pour moi de ne pas tenter d’aller les trouver
sur le plancher du CES.
