Must-See Movies This 2021 Holiday Season

With the most wonderful time of the year just around the corner, it’s time to start planning your annual holiday trip to the movies!

 

There’s no shortage of new releases in the coming weeks, so this years’ holiday movie lineup is sure to have something for movie lovers of all types and of all ages! If you’re planning to see a movie (or three), be sure to reserve your tickets for these not-to-be-missed titles.

 

Spiderman: No Way Home

After Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) identity as Spider-Man was exposed by Mysterio at the end of Spiderman: Far From Home, Peter is now desperate to go back to the way things were before everyone knew his secret. He requests the help of Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his magic, but the plan backfires—breaking open the multiverse and allowing villains who previously fought Spider-Man to enter Peter’s current universe.

With Zendaya returning as MJ, Jacon Batalon as Peter’s friend Ned and with Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, William Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans reprising their roles as Electro, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Sandman and Lizard respectively from the previous Spider-Man film sagas, Spider-Man: No Way Home mixes old with new in Marvel’s latest superhero flick!

Swing from building to building alongside Peter as he takes on villains past and present when this latest Spider-Man movie hits D-BOX theaters on December 17.

 

The King’s Man

When a group of criminal masterminds plan a war that will kill millions early in the 20th century, the Duke of Oxford (Ralph Fiennes) decides to take matters into his own hands by forming Kingsman, a secret agency who seeks to keep the peace without government involvement.

Serving as a prequel to the Kingsman film series, The King’s Man—directed by Matthew Vaughn—dives deep into the exclusive spy agency’s origins!

Go back in time to the very beginnings of Kingsman and help the Duke save the world when this third installment of the Kingsman series hits D-BOX theaters on December 22.

The Matrix Resurrections

Produced, co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections serves as the fourth installment in The Matrix film series and takes place twenty years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions.

Despite trying to live an ordinary life, Neo’s therapist decides to prescribe him a mysterious blue pill that make him forget everything he knows—including Trinity. However, when Morpheus tries to counter the blue pills with a red pill, Neo’s mind re-opens to the world of the all-powerful Matrix.

Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith reprise their roles from previous films in the series and are joined by Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and more in this long-awaited sequel.

Movies to see while you wait

While you wait for these three blockbusters to hit the big screen just before Christmas, there are plenty of movies to experience in a D-BOX theater near you!

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Acting as the sequel to Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989), this next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe follows a single mother (Carrie Coon) and her two young kids (Finn Wolfhard & McKenna Grace) 30 years after the events of the 1989 film.

After losing their home and struggling financially, the family is forced to move into their late grandfather’s home in a small town in Oklahoma. Shortly after they settle in, a series of inexplicable events start occurring—allowing the family to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and unravel the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Accompanying them on their adventure is schoolteacher Mr. Grooberson (Paul Rudd), as well as Bill MurrayDan AykroydErnie HudsonSigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, who all reprise their roles from the original films.

Encanto

Living in a magical Encanto in Colombia, young Mirabel Madrigal is the only Madrigal child to not receive a unique gift from the Encanto’s magic. While her siblings have gifts such as super strength and the power to heal, she is utterly powerless—until she discovers a crack indicating that the magic surrounding her family’s home is in danger.

Mirabel then takes it upon herself to help save her family’s legacy without any magical powers—making her the most powerful Madrigal of all!

Directed by Byron Howard, Jared Bush and featuring original songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, this animated musical from Disney stars the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda and Wilmer Valderrama.

This family-friendly flick is perfect for all ages and will have you swaying along with the music—especially in a D-BOX seat!

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

Raccoon City, the former home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, is rapidly becoming desolate due to leftover waste. When the evil that lurks below the town is released among the town’s residents, a group of survivors must work together to discover the dark truth behind Umbrella Corporation in order save what’s left of their hometown from extinction!

Adapted from the stories of the first and second games of the same name, this horror flick was directed by Johannes Roberts and serves as a reboot of the Resident Evil film series.

 

In this exclusive interview with D-BOX, Roberts expressed excitement for his latest creation.

“You need to see this movie in D-BOX,” he explained. “It will terrify you in a way that you will not have experienced before.”

Starring Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue and Neal McDonough, Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City is sure to please lovers of the games and original movie series alike.
