D-BOX Blog | How to Beat Holiday Movie Crowds & What to See

December 20, 2021

With the holiday season being a great time to relax and spend time with your family and friends, it should be no surprise that that it’s by far one of the busiest times of the year for movie theaters! It’s the ideal moment for movie lovers of all types and of all ages to hit their local theaters and take in one (or more!) of the many blockbusters that are released over the holidays.

Before you head to the theater however, you must prepare for the busy crowds—if you don’t, you’ll either miss the beginning of your movie, or the movie you really want to see will be completely sold out!

To plan a successful holiday outing, be sure to read up on our tips for beating the crowds and check out the must-see movies being released with D-BOX haptic feedback just in time for the holidays.

Buy tickets in advance

One of the best ways to beat the crowds during this busy movie season is to buy your tickets in advance. Many theaters will allow you to buy all types of tickets online, with everything from general admission, child admission, senior admission to premium formats!

By buying your tickets online, you save you and your family the time it would have taken to buy tickets on-site. Armed with your tickets in-hand, you can walk right through the lobby, past the lengthy lines and into the theater with little to no wait!

As a matter of fact, one of the biggest movies of the season already has tickets on sale: you can take advantage of advanced ticket sales and secure your seats for The Matrix Resurrections as of today! Simply head to your local theater to check out showtimes.

Plus, if you buy your tickets in advance, you can have a little extra fun with your family by wrapping them and presenting them as an early (or late) Christmas gift. This will help get everyone excited and make the outing extra special!

If you want to get a head start on figuring out which movies to see, be sure to check out our blog on the must-see movies of the holiday season.

Arrive early

Regardless of whether you bought your tickets in advance or not, arguably the most important tip of the season is to arrive at the theater at least 30 minutes before the start of your movie, preferably earlier if you have to purchase tickets on-site.

Think of all the little things you must do before your movie starts: buy tickets, use the washroom, purchase concessions, find your seats, remove your jackets, settle in, etc. Now, imagine having to do these things with at least double the amount of people at the theater—it will likely take double the time! This makes arriving early crucially important during the holiday season.

If ever you arrive early and end up having a bit of time to kill, then no worries—many cinemas have arcade games or other fun activities you can play to pass the time!

Decide on concessions in advance

The final tip we have for beating the busy crowds in the upcoming weeks is to have everyone in your family decide on their snacks of choice in advance. This will help not only the concessions staff better serve everyone prior to their movies by keeping the lines moving, but will also benefit you!

If you have multiple people in your party, then having everyone decide on concessions in advance means you can divide and conquer: one can order the food while the other can bring any children to the washroom or reserve seats in the theater.

Sometimes theaters may have a website or an app in which you can browse their concessions menu, so sitting down prior to leaving the house can help you decide and keep the day moving. Cinemark, for example, allows you to order concessions from your phone and have them either delivered to your seat or be ready for pickup when you arrive!

Also, to keep things simple, theaters often offer children’s combos or adult combos that usually include a popcorn, a drink and a candy—which are often the simplest and most inexpensive way to keep everyone happily munching throughout the movie!

Now that you know how to best prepare for the busy crowds, read on to discover the two must-see movies being released with D-BOX haptic technology over the holidays!

However, the plan backfires – the multiverse breaks open, allowing villains who previously fought Parker to enter his current world.

With Zendaya returning as MJ, Jacon Batalon as Peter’s friend Ned and with Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, William Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans reprising their roles as Electro, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Sandman and Lizard respectively from the previous Spider-Man films, Spider-Man: No Way Home mixes old with new in Marvel’s latest flick!

However, Neo’s mind is re-opened to the world of the Matrix when Morpheus appears with a red pill, leading them to try to put together the events that led to this odd occurrence.

Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith reprise their roles from previous films in the series and are joined by Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and more in this long-awaited sequel!
